The Town Clerk's Office is the center of Town Government and the Records Management Officer per NYS Law. FOIL Requests are administered through the Clerk's office.

  • Freedom of Information (FOIL) Requests

Please note that the Town of Deerfield no longer issues Hunting and Fishing Permits - please visit the nearest locations at Walmart and Bass Pro Shops in North Utica to receive them

Tuesdays - January 21 and Jan 28 the office will be open from 11:00am-7:00pm

Please call as the Clerk's office is a single staffed office. There may be times when no one will be available to assist you. 

Many of the Clerk's duties can be handled through email, phone or postal mail if physical presence if difficult.

 

Peddler Permits and Solicitors

  • Local Law 2 of 1996 states all solicitors advertising, selling of wares or services, must obtain a Peddler Permit from the Town of Deerfield. In exchange for this permit, the Town Clerk receives information on the company, solicitor, transportation information, and contact information. This is to keep track of those who travel through our town for the purposes of protecting our residents. You are free to ask to see their permits.

The Real ID Act

  • If your NYS license or ID does not have a star or a flag on it, then you do not have a REAL ID-compliant document. A REAL ID is a federally compliant DMV issues driver license, learner permit, or other non-driver ID that is required to board a somestice flight (within the U.S.) or enter certain federal buildings, unless you have a valid passport.

Clerk's Note:

Please note that one form of proff of ID id your legal name, which affects many women, as marriage and divorce changes out names. The DMV will ask you to provide proof of your past name changes, To do so, you must locate the town, city, or village where you obtained your marriage license and request a certified transcript. The cost is $10 to search and, if available, provide the transcripts. This procedure requires payment up front along with the application. Photo ID is required, with completed application. This procedure does take research and time. Please consider this at the time of the request. 

Bring Proof of Your Full, Legal Name

DMV may only print your legal name on a REAL ID or enhanced document. A nickname, like an abbreviated or alternate version of your legal name, is not allowed. If a nickname, abbreviated name, or confirmation name appears on any of your proof documents, additional proof of full, legal name, or proof of a court-ordered name change, must be shown.

If your name has changed once or multiple times due to marriage or divorce, for example, proof of each change,such as a marriage certificate or divorce decree, must be provided to show the connection.
